Stitchstuff's Story

As the clock struck midnight on 1st January 2011 a mum of a little boy that wasn't yet 1 years old pressed confirm on the set up page of a Facebook business page, an Etsy store and an email account.

Stitchstuff became an actual thing that new years eve, what a way to start 2011.

The sock piggies were the first product I featured on the Facebook page, this photo was taken on the new year's eve ready to show anyone that may have liked the page.

I didn't have a logo for a while, and my sister offered to create one for me as a gift a couple of years after I set the business up.

It started off as a bright and funky logo, at the time I was making products for babies and toddlers, and mainly using bright spotty fabrics. So it fitted the vibe perfectly.

Over the years I took various amounts of time away from being creative. Possibly the longest amount of time was from around 2015 to 2020, I had recently had my 4th baby and as much as I wanted to sew it was pretty much impossible, so I stepped away......until the COVID lockdown, and I was told to work from home by my office job....I needed an escape, and some face masks, so I dusted off the sewing machine.

Things really took off, and a more grown up look emerged for my product range, so my logo was adapted to reflect this.

I had my first website and was at the post office daily with piles of parcels, of mainly headbands and snoods.

And then as fast as the sales had come flooding in, lockdown was lifted and things returned to a sort of normal. My eldest child was going through transition to secondary school and all 4 had various clubs and groups to be transported to,  I was back in the office for a few days a week, and was in the process of moving house, something had to give and it was Stitchstuff.

Fast forward to Summer 2025. I had no intention of ever relaunching, although I missed it a lot. I had some time off from my office job and to keep busy I tried out some different textile crafts, including knitting and crochet. I fell in love with creating things again, and made so many products that I decided to come back, with the same theme as I had in 2020 - 2022: inspired by Cornwall.
