She was due to return to an office job in 2011 but was able to take a break for a few years as her baby had some additional needs - many years and struggles later she found out this was known as autism - she needed something for her, something she could do to keep awake when her baby was awake. She had read all the books she had, and her love of painting was too messy with a baby, but she could sew, she had been sewing since she was about 7 years old.
She would sit up all night (whilst her baby was wide awake) stitching together socks to make cuddly toys by hand, and was gifted an old sewing machine by a family member.....Stitchstuff was born.
A few years, and three more babies later, she was more tired than before, having made hundreds of sock toys (and had managed to pass CE testing), bibs and bunting...and ended up returning to her office job, the sewing machines went into retirement and moved from house to house in various house moves with no likely hood that they would be used again.
But fast forward to one summer's evening in 2020, almost 10 years after Stitchstuff was born.....she made herself a face covering so she could go into shops during the covid pandemic (she needed chocolate and coffee) and with that, her sewing machine stayed out and Stitchstuff was back.

I am Tanya - mummy of four little ones and a slightly scatty springer x collie - owner and maker working within Stitchstuff Cornwall alongside an office job.
In the months following the relaunch the product range has moved forwards (as I no longer have babies I no longer make products for babies) and things I made as a child which started my love of sewing have been brought into the mix, along with a range of reusable items.
I have a love of walking, I walk along the coast paths and beaches here in Cornwall and am inspired by everything I see. The artist in me has decided to combine this with my sewing, and the fabrics I use are inspired by the colours of the Cornish landscape.
I am excited about the future - I have so many ideas, keep a lookout for updates.
